The Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder's Office, Assessor's Division is currently accepting Decline in Value applications for the 2014-15 tax year. The deadline to file Decline in Value applications is October 1, 2014.

If YES - Stop. You DO NOT need to file again. Assessor will automatically review your property for 2014-2015.

 

Use this form to declare that your property value, as of January 1, has declined below assessed value and to request that it be reassessed for property tax purposes. Choose one of the three options below for filing the form:

 

OPTION 1

E-mail the application to the Assessor's Division by completing the form and clicking "Send" below.

OPTION 2

Mail the application to the Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder's Office,

                                               Assessor's Division

                                               555 County Center,

                                               Redwood City, CA 94063-1665.

OPTION 3

Fax the application to the Assessor's Division at (650) 599-7456

Please note that this Decline in Value Request is an informal review by the Assessor.  In order to preserve your legal rights to appeal, you must file an "Application for Changed Assessment" which may be obtained from the Clerk of the Assessment Appeals Board (AAB) after July 1, and must be filed with the Clerk on or before November 30, 2014

 

If you do not hear back from the Assessor regarding your decline request before November 30, 2014, you must file an appeal with the Clerk to preserve your rights. If the Assessor does not approve your Decline in Value request, you may choose to file for an appeal with the Clerk on or before November 30, 2014, or reapply for an informal review next year.
