The County Clerk-Recorder's office issues marriage licenses as well as certified copies of marriage certificates. Staff and volunteers perform civil marriage ceremonies. We can deputize other individuals to perform your marriage ceremony at another location. For couples who marry in our chapel, they can have the ceremony broadcast over the internet.
The Name Equality Act of 2007 changed California's marriage laws on January 1, 2009. When purchasing the marriage license, couples must state what their married legal name will be.
Information for purchasing a certified copy of a marriage certificate is on our Marriage Certificate webpage.
For divorce, will/probate and other court-related inquiries, please contact the Clerk's Office of the Superior Court.
