Taxpayers' Bill of Rights Annual Report
The Taxpayers' Rights Advocate's Office (TRAO) of the State
Board of Equalization has released its Taxpayer's Bill of
Rights Annual Report. The TRAO facilitates resolution of taxpayer
complaints and problems, monitors various tax and fee programs
for compliance with the Taxpayers' Bill of Rights, and recommends
laws, policies, or procedures to enhance the Board's public
service goals. Generally, the TRAO helps taxpayers resolve
difficulties with state and county assessment and taxation
staff, or provides procedural or legal guidance. The TRAO
works to ensure fair and equitable treatment of taxpayers
in the assessment and collection of taxes, and identifies
and recommends changes in policies, procedures and statutes
to improve and/or ease taxpayer compliance. Review current
